Traveling with the littlest ones: toddler travel bed
Whew. Who knew prior to becoming a parent, this would be the challenge that it truly is? You see the ad below right here I’m including in this post? The Intex Inflatable Kids Travel Airbed with Pump? Yes, This bed right here is the BOMB and not just for traveling; although it is the bed toddler travel bed ever if you ask me!
Do you remember thinking it was stressful just to get yourself packed when going out of town? Before you had a child? Yea… fast forward to adding the responsibility of traveling with your offspring. Now, thinking back to your pre-mommyhood days doesn’t seem so bad, does it?
Sleeping away from home
Again, I had no idea I’d need to put so much effort and energy into planning for my child to sleep away from home. No one told me I might need a toddler travel bed after a pack-n-play. I mean, wouldn’t be just like a grown-up? Go out of town. Nighttime. Lay down and go to sleep, right? Ha! Joke’s on you.
These little guys need routine and when their routine, their environment, their surroundings change, all bets are off. We quickly realize we need to think and plan ahead.
In the beginning, a simple pack-n-play worked fine. If we were going somewhere within driving distance, this portable option was packed up and added to our collection of additional “stuff” we needed to take for baby.
Then, as they always do, my itty bitty daughter got bigger and she no longer fit in the pack-n-play. The problem was, she was definitely not ready to sleep in a real bed. Maybe you can relate: my daughter defines wiggle worm. She would roll right off a big bed. Looking back, I actually wish I’d purchased these bumpers sooner because they also travel well and we now use them on her big-girl double bed at home.
More Than Just a Toddler Travel Bed
How often have you woked up in the middle of the night with a sick kid? Not fun! Any kind of illness, especially the tummy bug, (related: How to Avoid the Stomach Bug).
Well, sometimes we can’t avoid it (as my four-year-old says: “Life is Life”). If you’re anything like me, you fear numerous bed/ sheet washing when it comes to them throwing up at night. The solution? This bed again for the win!
Set up the bed in your room covered with sheets and if your child misses the through up bucket or throw up bag, you don’t have to worry about the big bed itself, the mattress pad or anything else that would be hard to clean from sleeping in their room!
